Why do I sit on the grant committee? It is often difficult to read the letters written by many of our applicants. Honestly I never wanted to learn about different cancers and their prognoses. I just wanted to hear there was a cure, but unfortunately that’s not always the case. So why do I volunteer to do this? I am in complete awe at that strength and determination of our applicants. Their resolve and courage inspires me.Their ability to be grateful for every chance they get to receive treatment, no matter how many side effects they may have to suffer, is truly amazing. Most of our applicants put their energy into fighting this horrible disease and keep a positive attitude. Our applicants help me understand the fragility and gift of life. Their warrior spirit inspires me to be stronger, more grateful, and appreciative.
